چکیده

Excellent outcrops of the upper part “Continental Intercalaire” deposits occur in Gara Samani area, southern Algeria. These strata are recognised herein as belonging to Formation, which is composed Vertebrate-rich Sand Member, Sandstone Member and Méguidène Stratified Member. The first two members from a fluvial system last member corresponds an aeolian (dune interdune) system. They have preserved one most diverse continental vertebrate faunas latest Albian–early Cenomanian age yet known northern Africa. Most taxa identified there, cited for time “mid”-Cretaceous Algeria, not been analysed detail so far; many them never figured. faunal list vertebrates this locality was supplemented thanks detailed analysis new relatively abundant finds. As consequence, assemblage elasmobranchs (two Hybodontiformes, i.e., Tribodus sp. Distobatidae indet.; Batoidea, Onchopristis numida ), actinopterygians ( Bawitius sp., Adrianaichthys Obaichthys africanus , Calamopleurus sarcopterygians (Mawsoniidae indet. Dipnoi, cf. Lavocatodus humei Neoceratodus testudines (at least Pelomedusoides, being representative Araripemydidae), crocodyliforms (all remains compatible with Neosuchia, represented at by Elosuchus broinae ornithocheirid pterosaurs, non-avian dinosaurs (titanosauriform sauropods theropods, Spinosaurus aegyptiacus Carcharodontosaurus saharicus ). This fauna association displays close similarities contemporaneous ones North Africa, especially that Kem beds.

Cenomanian vertebrate assemblages from southwestern France: a new insight into the European mid-Cretaceous continental fauna

Cenomanian paralic deposits of Charentes (southwestern France) have yielded abundant vertebrate microremains, including rather diversified continental taxa (e.g., frogs, turtles, crocodilians, dinosaurs, pterosaurs, lizards, and mammals). In this preliminary report, the succession of faunal assemblages observed is briefly described in relation to palaeoenvironmental change resulting from the Ce...

Isotopic evidence for continental ice sheet in mid-latitude region in the supergreenhouse Early Cretaceous

Cretaceous represents one of the hottest greenhouse periods in the Earth's history, but some recent studies suggest that small ice caps might be present in non-polar regions during certain periods in the Early Cretaceous. Here we report extremely negative δ(18)O values of -18.12‰ to -13.19‰ for early Aptian hydrothermal zircon from an A-type granite at Baerzhe in northeastern China. Given that ...

A new Cenomanian (Late Cretaceous) coleoid (Cephalopoda) from Hâdjoula, Lebanon

The fossil record of cuttlefish, squid and octopus has received relatively little attention. Among malacologists, the opinion is widespread that these mainly softbodied coleoids have a poor fossil record. However, thanks to Konservat-Lagerst tten such as the Early Jurassic Posidonian Shales of Holzmaden (Germany), the Middle Jurassic La-Voulte-sur-Rh ne (France) and the Late Jurassic Limestones...

Hematology of Lower Vertebrates

Introduction The proper evaluation of the hemogram of any animal patient involves the determination of a total erythrocyte count [TRBC], packed cell volume [PCV], hemoglobin concentration [Hb], total white blood cell count [TWBC], white blood cell differential, and the evaluation of a stained peripheral blood film. The basic techniques used in mammalian hematology also apply to that of lower ve...
